Welcome To My Build In February I Purchased My 1st DSM And I Quickly Found Out Why My Cousin Always Said Don`t Get One..Nevertheless I`m Not A Quitter So As I Wait For My 7 bolt To Kill Itself I Discovered This In The Junkyard:D

So My Plans Are
6 Bolt Block
1G Stock Pistons
2G NPR Pistons (Bore Con Rods To 22mm)
New Oil Pump
Fire Seal/Ferrera/GSC -Valves
BC Springs And Retainers
Kelford Or FFWD Cams
Walbro 255
650CC Injectors
Cometic Hg
ARP Headstuds

So i began the teardown immediately and to my surprise the internals were in very good shape

Except for the oil pick up that screamed "Please Kill Me"

But I guess these shiny crank journals will make up for the pick up being crushed

Wicked find dude. :D below 300hp I'd say these are just as good than other engines. But it really all depends on what you replace/whats wrong with it. These are 15+ years old

This one is in great shape....i believe i could have run it as is...the car i took it from would crank but wouldn't start..i know a guy putting down 3 something on stock bottom end

Stock bottom end would have no problem holding 400hp.

True story.

Good find and good luck OP.. My stock 7 bolt bottom end is holding ~450 whp in my spyder. And a buddy of mine ran his awd with a stock 6 bolt with over 500 wheel for 3 years before it spit out a rod.

Gonna rebuild the bottom end stock then do a BSE and throw either kelford 272s or Ffwd cams then mayyybbbeee a hx35 will hopefully put me where i need to be

That Will Be Thought On During The Build As Well ..Right Now My Car Bounces Like A Stripper In Atlanta

Hey trying to help a fellow fwd dsmer. Look into going with a built trans. Been through 2 "built" transmission. Look into something where you can get an upgraded input shaft. Just giving my .02 cents

You broke 2 built trans at 380whp? Something else isn't right. I was running a stock fwd trans to 680whp 570tq with no problems. Dozens of track passes and many more street tuning pulls.

Got the 6 bolt cleaned and painted over the weekend...gonna mic the crank and cylinders make sure everything is up to spec...then the build begins....will upload pics soon as i can get to a computer....think i did ok for a guy that makes 8.50 a hr

So after cleaning 23 years worth of dirt and oil i was finally able to paint.. Never hurts to have a helper dry the engine with the compressor..kid does good work
Gonna Knock out the old freeze plugs and install new ones so excuse the ugliness for now

I was about to say the same thing Richard!! :) sounds like he needs to work on his driver mods not the trans LOL.

I barely drive the car and I talked to couple people and they told me it could be from using solid motor mounts. Car doesn't wheel hop because I am using slicks on streets and track. Don't miss any shifts grandma shifting. It broke in the middle of 4th. I was just saying don't use stock trans unless you get it rebuilt/ shot peened because you will regret it. I was just giving my input that's all

I have all prothane/solid motor mounts and LSD and slicks car doesnt wheel hop either and havnt had any problems with my stock trans. I launch at 5250 and cut 1.7 60' and I use nlts and don't granny shift at all LOL. Wasn't trying to be rude to you bro, just saying you shouldn't be blowing thru trans that easy like Richard said with 380hp. Also you said built trans right who built them so we no to stay away?

O.p. looking good bro keep updating us on the build.

Yea I run soild mounts n slicks and run about the same times as you without any problems..idk man switch to auto I guess

To the op you should go bigger than 650cc if you want 400hp.good luck

I rather not say the company name because they are a vender on here but ill say its an east coast company. Solid motor mounts as billet aluminum front and rear. Thinking about switching to prothane inserts again. Not many venders building fwd trans anymore

i see youre in LA is it hard to find 100 oct like in california? its obviously harder to get higher HP on lower octane, but i think this thread will help: How can I make 400whp on CA's 91 octane?

Short: do support mods + get a big turbo and run it at 15psi (more than that on 91 oct = knock)

id say 800cc injectors,, but dont trust me on that
