3S short throw shifter on a dsm

hey. i bought a short throw shifter off of my friend he had for his 94 steatlh t.t. and it bolts right up and shortens my throws amazingly. didn't know if this was common knowledge but it wasnt for me.

go to www.3si.org/forum. some guy on there makes them i got one for 85 bucks. it's way way shorter throws than any dsm short throw i've seen. and cheaper.

the shifter allows perfect synchornization of the gears correct?

there is no half shifting with this shifter?

Because a 3S's tranny lengths, etc. might differ so i felt this should be addressed.

okay. the ONLY thing that is different about this is that the pivot point of the 3s s.t.s.(short throw shifter) is way higher than the dsm. so when you shift into 1st and 2nd, the pivot point hits the underside of the center console slightly. but it's very very slight and if you really wanted to fix it you could just shave a 1/4 inch off the inside of the console underneath the shift boot. other than that, i've had it on over a week now and it's awesome!

i've had it in my 3s and it seriously reduces throw by 50%.. much more than the BM that my friend has in his GST. plus it's 89 shipped :laugh:


only problem is... will it effect the tranny?

Actually the $85 shifter is from Paul Pear (Seattle91VR4)...aka the Seattle Short Throw shifter. He is an individual who sells them online at 3si. I have it in my TT and it is damn awesome! It almost reminds me of a sequential gearbox, looks like I just tap the thing up or down to shift!

about your question about hurting the tranny. i'm not sure how i could be, but now you got me worried. (paranoid) it slides into gear with no problems in any gear and it feels great, so i dont see how i could be causing any problems. what kind of problems were you thinking of?

okay. i took some pics of the 3kgt shifter on my car, as you can see it reduces the throws considerably, about an inch and a half space between first and second.
