Im thinking about swapping my stock 2G eclipse spyder headlights for the 3G carbonfiber headlghts and a 2G carbonfiber hood. Will it be more work to cut/fill a carbonfiber hood or a fiberglass hood around the 3G headlights? And would i need the headlight wiring from a 3G eclipse to have them work on my 2G eclipse spyder?

definitely more work. conversions are all going to require pretty much a total redesign of the front end of the car. (Hood, fenders, front) Some may require little to no modification to maybe 1 part, but it's still gonna be a good deal of custom fabrication. :thumb:

There won't be any point to filling a CF hood since half the point is the appearance of the threads....

When the 3G eclipse lights are installed, wont i have gaps that have to be filled, around the headlights to fit smoothly.

Can i just add more carbonfiber to the area that have to be filled?
Um.....no...you cant do that. Carbon Fiber is laid down in sheets. Its not a patchwork type of thing.

More work than its worth to me...besides projection headlights (97-99) are the best...in fact I'd rather have the 96-97 headlights than the 3g eclipse. the 3g eclipse has bug eyes.

I dont understand why you want to waste all that time and money to put those nasty headlights on your car. I mean seriously if you are going to do a headlight conversion, then get some sick headlights, like silvia or skyline. Your stock headlights look way better than 3g headlights. I dont even consider the 3g an eclipse, and actually it kinda sucks that mitsubishi came out with that car. I'm not trying to be an ass, but seriously spend your money on something else. Go buy a turbo, or some new rims.

p.s. lower that beast.

IMO it wouldn't look good at all. Those lights definately don't go with the shape of the car as well as the original lights. You're gonna spend A TON of money on something you may not like.

im going to have to agree with everyone on this, its going to be ugly, too much $, and way too hard(not that any conversion is easy) but i have a question for you, what do you mean by cf 3g headlights? I've owned one since the day they came out and have been modding it until i just recently sold it and i have never seen carbon fiber headlights. do you have any pics of these?

I was actually thinking about the same thing, this is a quick photoshop i did a while back to see what it would look like.

Don't the FTO versions in Japan hae headlights similar to that or something like the Supra? I am almost sure the Japanese Eclipe has different headlights than the US version.

Here is a pic with headlights on the FTO but of course the whole damn car is different looking than ours....this definitely looks like a Supra or an old school Opel GT with current styling.

I have a new set of 19" Axizz(ne-o) rims and Nitto tires, that im going to apply after i install the NX wide body kit.Im lowering my ride 2" with sportline springs. And Baer big brake kit.I have been looking into many differnt headlights that would flow with the Nx wide body kit.And the 3G eclipse headlights would work out nice.
