yeah the b2000 5.0 swap was fairly easy, had to make custom motor mounts and a custom crossmember, other than that...it was all wiring and cooling, well had to have the driveshaft shortened too.... when i get back home where the car is, im planning to put a ford 9" in it and get rid of that rickety mazda rearend.....

the rx-7, with the 500 caddy though, wasn't so easy, that one doesn't drive yet. but the nice thing about that is once i get the engine set, the wiring won't be much of a problem, good ole carb engines :)

The original question was about fitting a TT 3000GT motor into an eclipse, which probably means he doesn't have the experience you do. That being the case, he probably needs deep pockets to have this done, unless you would like a new project for the remainder of the winter and spring. My guess it's probably not feasable since you would need the engine to the tranny, and the TT engine is much bigger than our 420A.

And you most likely won't see a V12 bike anytime soon since it's been tried and cannot be ridden due to the weight of the engine. Dodge came out with a concept bike with the vipers V-10 engine in it, but then again it had 4 tires so technically it's not a motorcycle.

looks like a worthy project, but if you couldn't fit the twin-turbo, what about a supercharger...doesn't jackson make 1 for the 3000gt?? bet it'd be quick off the jump in a gsx!! ...can that be done??

the 2.5 in the avenger was 164hp...
The 3.0L in the 3g Eclipse is 200hp and looks identical I know people that are swapping the 3.0L into theior avenger's...
My grandma own a 3G 5 spd eclipse. She will run with a GST bone stock. She actually get a jump off the line on a gst due to the torque available from the V6. That motor will fit into a 2g dsm and I am pretty sure it will fit into a 1g.... Now if the 3g eclipse had a bit more RPM she would run damn good... redline is way too early for such a quick revving V6... plus the sound and feel of it is just sweet! When someone turbo's one of those bastards watch out! Grannies ran a best of 15.14 at 93mph not too shabby at all!

I've been toying on the idea of having the TT motor also, but there are too many cons than pros. Who ever said that the mods would be more expensive than a GST surely has no clue on this subject. Right before I bought my Talon, I found a 93 Stealth TT. I really wanted that car, but the the mileage on the car was too high for the price they wanted, adn the guy wouldn't budge on price. Anyway, before I even tried to get a loan for it, I did some research on those 3000GT's and Stealth's. You would be amazed on how cheap you can get some of that stuff. One of the forums that I found, was selling a TT upgrade kit, with front mount intercooler, all pipeing, upgrades that the motor needed(no internals involved) for $1999. It guranteed mid 10's to low 11's in the 1/4 mile. They also had "new" blocks on there with internals for $3000 and the motor was capable of handling 600 hp without any internal mods. Yes it would be awesome to have one of those monsterous motors in a DSM, but the headache of getting everything to fit, well, it would be better left to a prfessional I think. I will own one of those cars though. Someday.

:dsm: i know a local guy who put a n/a 3000GT motor in his 96 talon, he said that the turbo motor wont fit or else he would have dont it that way. i will ask him for pics but i think he solt it on ebay.

what i want to see is a DSM with the avenger/sebring 2.7liter V6, they arent to bad on horse power, compaired to a n/a 420a and it would seem that they would bolt up easy enought, maybe even the same transmition. if anyone knows anything about it (2.7liter swap for 2.0liter let me know)

that red 2g is not photoshop. it was on ebay last year with more than one angle of that engine bay and the seller described what he had done to it

Not to rain on the parade but it has been brought up before and the general consensus was that it would be TERRIBLE weight distribution anyone else have some thoughts on this because I hae a 6G72TT sitting over @ my friends house in his garage w/ a spun main bearing and a 1990 eclipse Gs that is WAY underpowered :D. I think if i had more time and money it would be cool for a side project to chop the ass end off my 1g and make a mid engine RWD eclipse with tt v/6...

I don't know about a V12....

Anything is possible, I saw a bike in Texas that had a 25ft frame length and a jet engine attached to it.

You're right. Anything is possible, but it doesn't mean it's drivable. Having a TT 3000GT motor in an eclipse sure sounds good on paper, but it doesn't mean it will run properly. But hey, you can say you fit a TT V6 in your car. It's just too bad it just sits in the garage.

And I'm pretty sure that concept bike isn't a daily driver. Considering it's on four wheels I can't see how you would turn on that thing.

I agree... im still hung on the poor weight distribution problem. also with the TT model you have that turbo sitting right by the firewall.. gotta do some chopping to make it fit I would assume...

Yeah, that's the problem with fitting that motor in the 3000GT! The rear turbo is a bit close to the firewall. Wonder what it would be like in a DSM!
-=B-= <===== not gonna find out!

i think that mitsubishi should have put a 2.5L v6 in the 2g eclipse, some people want that little bit more horse power but dont want to touch there motor...

for all the money youd be wasting on the swap buy a 300gt vr-4 and then mod it. That way you wouldn't have to worry about stuff fitting in the engine bay , weight distribution. :dsm:
