Got my qtp installed, thought it turned out well i didnt want it to hang to low..gonna slap on a stock muffler for that sleeper look..just some stock turbo gst..haha

Dude, sick ..As close as you can get to open downpipe sound and shutoff for the sleeper sound around cops and neighbors
I bet the spoolup is even more rediculous quick

I have the same setup! I love it. Running around open downpipe everywhere does get old after a bit.

How is it working for you? Do you know if its a new design? Im just asking because I've ran them on two difference occasions over 5-6 years ago and they were both short lived. The heat killed the motors.

Yeah I killed the motor on two. I just installed a block plate and I take it off when I dyno and race or just want to act a fool

I heard the same problems about them failing but i dont drive it much and figured it would last..ill cross my fingers

I did something similar on my GST before I swapped to AWD and installed a full 3" turbo back. I also hid the switches pretty well...

I don't like obvious switches, especially for controlling a cutout. A little bit of wiring, some massage work to the stock heater vent and countless hours result in the cutout activation being controlled by what appear to be two filler panels in the dash.

The setup was a 2.5" downpipe to a cat-delete where an Badlanz HPE 2.5" cutout was mounted, followed by the factory GST catback.

The setup picked up enough power to fry the clutch on the last and only pull made with the cutout open. With the two videos you can really hear the difference in spool time open versus closed.

Now it sits in my attic waiting to be sold off in the spring to help fund a paint job.

I saw a 7hp increase at peak whp, but I feel that was very conservative.

We (Jestr, CFT Turbo Mustang Dyno) tuned the car for it closed (street car) and decided to open it up on the last pull to make sure the tune was still safe. Re-watching the videos from the day, the last pull was all too much for the clutch. You can really hear it begin to let go. We also experienced a bit of knock, which as you know pulls timing. We hadn't knocked all day until that pull, but suspect the open exhaust so close to the sensor may have been the issue. Opened vs closed, the car was a completely different animal when the last shreds of life were yanked from the clutch disk before disassembly.

A WOT switch won't work with an electric cut-out. I don't know of any that will open fast enough. An easier solution would be to find a huge external waste gate and mount it in the downpipe with a low PSI spring. Use something like a nitrous solenoid on it to control the boost reference line, so you can deactivate it if you so choose.
