1G 3" GM MAF question

I know im asking something I should already know but I just got back into a 1g Eclipse after a long dry spell.

My question is, if I install the 3" GM MAF and translater can I get rid of factory air box and run open filter?

Yep. Put the GM maf in your upper IC pipe and then you can run a pipe with just a filter on the end straight to your turbo.

Dream on hit the nail on the head. MAF in uicp, Pipe with a filter on the end going into the turbo. Thats what you need.

Only, however, if the 3" GM MAF is installed on the UICP. Some people will run the setup in draw-thru setup.

No you don't need a kit, just get a cone filter and a peice of tubing to route your filter to the location you want it in. Attach the filter to tube, and tube to turbo intake, just need 1 hose coupler and 3 clamps, assuming you use one clamp to attach the filter. Should be much cheaper to build your own this way than buy a pre-fab.

Well that sounds too easy, I thought what I was thinking was correct but seemed to easy! But, what about the vacuum lines running into the air box?

Also does it matter which GM MAF you use? If I remember right there were only certain ones that could be used.

Any 3" or 3.5" GM MAF can be used.
The MAF Translator is what makes it compatable.
