well to start everything off its a 90 eclipse, I put this tranny in about a yr ago. It was a "jdm tranny w/ 40k on it" well ive put about 3k on it and pretty much the day i put it in it has reved up abit in between shifts 2-3 usually 200-300 rpm, other gears are fine.

Now whats wierd is its not like this all the time, some days it would shift excellent and very firm others not so much. ive checked the tranny fluid and its fine, no smell and its not low. Now after i rebiult the topend on engine the tranny shifted PERFECT i was very impressed and it was like that for acouple days then it came back alot worse. One morning i decided to take it down the road to pick up somthin and it was kind of cold out like maybe 30? So i start down the driveway and i noticed it didnt shift when i let off the gas, i was like ummm uh oh, i could just tell it wasnt going to when i started to pull out. So i start down the road and it revs up and i keep the rpms held at 4k and it drops and it is all jerky exc and then drops into overdrive... damnnnttt! so i continue down the road and and it stays in that gear i slow down to turn and it stayed in that gear till i put the pedle to the floor and it downshifted fine but shifted in to gear irratic. so i stop and turn around and take it home..

So i take my 97 and come back and i deciced i was going to take it to my bros and switch the tcu's cause i had my old one that i thought went bad before when installed this tranny but it just ended up being cables switch then so anyways i get in and take it down the road and it shifted normal like nothing happend im like wtf ? i drive it around and it still fine, still has the little rpm rev but not bad... so the next morning i take it out again and it shifted but poped into gear and then poped out and then back in and was very jurky when cold but after it warmed up it was fine..and its been like this for acouple weeks now but not like a everyday thing.. what is up ? this thing is so wierd !! somedays it shifts fine other days it revs from shifts 2-3 but as of today it has gotten alot worse than normal and i have no clue why..

It just doesn make sense, how can a tranny shift perfect and the next day shift like its got 150k on it ? its hard to explain how it acts because its so irratic and is always changeing how it shifts.. please help, like i said it should only have 50k on it.. thanks for all the help i can get!:)

2rd = Turd, just a typo Defiant obviously found funny. :)

My tranny has 124K on it and it shifts perfectly and very hard with the shift kit/TC installed. That being said I think you have some mechanical issues that need to be sorted out beyond your typical fluid level issues.

The front clutch pack (3rd gear) is the weakest (apart from the end clutch, of course), and it may be going out. Your line pressure solenoid, or another shift solenoid may be going bad as well. You can check these by dropping the pan and verifying the resistance at the solenoid.

Have you pulled any tranny codes? I suggest you do that after it has been acting up. Here is a link on how to do it:

Please try to use paragraphs, it makes identifying what is actually going on much easier.

Thanks, and good luck!

damn! LOL i didnt even notice it but its fixed now, thanks for pointing that out.

Now i checked the tranny fluid today.... there was nothing on the dipstick! so im going to fill it back up and find where its leaking from but more than likely its leaking from my clutch pack. ALL the bolts are stripped out, the company that i bought this from tour it completly apart and cleaned it which is why it looked so new when i bought it but somehow managed to strip every bolt out.. the clutch pack before poured tranny fluid out so I put longer bolts in it and tightened them down problem fixed, but maybe there loosening up enough to alow fluid to leak again?.. but yea i just checked this a week or 2 ago and it was fine, which still tells me somthing else is going on.

I will check for codes but shouldnt there be a light that comes on when somthing happens to the tranny ? Becasue thats the only reason i havent checked for codes yet.. but yea im dumb when it comes to auto trannys because they are so horrible for the dsm's. I can diagnose a engine, tear it down, rebiuld it whatever... auto trannys not so much! which is why this will be the last auto i will own for dsm's
