So I'm new to my 97 eclipse GS.. I did an engine swap with a good running motor. And after doing some research i seem to be having a vacum leak. At the beginning I was idling almost a 3k RPMs now that I adjusted some lines it has came down to about 1.5k RPMs but still running a little rough. Can anyone give me any ideas??? These are some pictures of my current setup please let me know what is wrong. And if someone has a diagram or pics of their set up I would appreciate it.

You're on the right track. Grab yourself a can of starter fluid -- any semi-serious auto parts store (i.e., not Wal-Mart) will have -- and spray at all the various joints and fittings. If it's a plain leak that'll find it -- the engine will smooth right out.

There are a few other possibilities -- throttle plate too far open due to deposits is one. The PCV valve is another -- I think that's the only hose connection that'll pass enough air to cause the kind of numbers you're seeing. Accumulated crud can cause it to stick open and while theory says you can clean it, I've never been able to do it. Be sure it's the right one for your engine.

The ISC valve and Basic Idle Speed Setting (BISS) are also possibilities. Unfortunately some people who work on our cars don't understand how the idle speed is controlled and these things can be way out of whack. If none of the above does it, then check these -- the shop manual has the info.

Good luck with it!
