Is this a smart thing to do? I know it will add 1-2 psi but I read somewhere it can mess up and overboost, just covering my bases before I try it.

its not enough of a difference to hurt. If youre concerned, rewire the stock fuel pump and you will have nothing to worry about. Id reccomend at least an aftermarket boost gauge as well though, just so you can accurately monitor it.

Yea I am kind of on the fence, boost gauge is in mail and waiting for to buy an MBC at the end of the month, I suppose I can live with 1-2 psi less for the time being since I have no accurate way of measuring boost

Its really not gonna be a problem, that factory boost solenoid is designed to regulate boost no matter what, just because youre opening up one vacuum end more to allow for a slight increase in boost doesnt mean its going to creep or hurt anything. Like i said, if youre concerned at all, just to a fuel pump rewire to insure you have the fuel volume to back it up just incase it were to maybe boost a little higher than expected.

You're safe to remove it, I did when I got my first dsm years ago.
