2g transmission in a 1g

i have looked around and found a few threads but nothing was certain. im looking at buying a 7 bolt transmission in great shape. i just want to know if its possible i found this that said it can be done

[Club DSM] Has anybody ever installed a 2G transmission on a 1G?

although i saw a pic and it looks like the speed sensor is slightly different. can this be done with very little mods this reason i dont just buy a 1gen transmission is because i cant find one!!! i have been looking for about a month now and this is all i found. let me know thanks!
