1g transmission in a 2g

So i know this question has been answered and asked a lot...but i can't seem to find a definitive answer....

I have a 95 gsx project i'm building with a 7 bolt, but i can't seem to find any good AWD trannies in my area for cheap enough that are 2g. However i have found tons of 1gs. I'm wondering besides the mounting points is there anything else holding me back from putting in a 1g to the 7 bolt? I have a tcase from the 95 as well.

if you can't find 2g trans get a 1g and the 1g transfercase swap over the 2g bellhousing and it will be a drop in you will need the transfercase though also as the 95 won't work with it

Couldn't i just weld on new mounts?

Not sure about that not going to say yes and be wrong. If it was me I wouldn't do that. Though if your going to weld it you will have to tig it as a mig will blow through the cast

1st off the 91 - 96 23 spline transfer cases are all the same (not getting technical, just saying, a 91 transfer case will work in a 95 or 96 car, or 95 or 96 t case with a 1g trans).

If you can't buy a 2g trans for a good price, why not get yours rebuilt (or do you not have one at all)?

Don't waste your time trying to rig something together, unless you like working on your car everyday and making no progress..

I don't have one. I bought a shell and so far i have my engine ready, clutch and tcase. But i just cant seem to find a trans for a good price for the build. I'm gonna sell it once i'm done to make a little cash, so rebuild isn't necessary. If i have to i'll junk a bell housing and rebuild it myself...thought i don't wanna do that.
