My buddy and I are building his gvr4 and we were going to have his old trans rebuilt because the synchros were bad but when I was looking in the how to section I found that you can swap in a 2g trans.

How many people have swapped 2g trans' into their 1g/gvr4, and was it worth it, feel better than the 1g trans?

I have a spare 2g trans and transfer case from a parts car I had, might as well put it to use.

Thanks

The 3-4 synchros are bigger, so they work better, but the slider for 3-4 is terribly weak and can explode if the car has over 400hp, and is abused too harshly. I would also be sure your 2G trans and t-case are a matching set as the 2GA and 2GB units need a matching t-case to keep the front and rear ratios correct.

You may also have issues with your shifter cables as the 2G shift shaft is a lot shorter. Due to the design of the cables, they may not like bending over to the shorter shaft, so the shifter may feel a bit stiff and off center.
