well i am in the process of trying to fix a bad 2g starter... i did use the search function and it got me this far .. i have the upper ic pipe taken out and the battery and battery tray .. i found the starter hidden under the intake manifold underneath the thousand hoses that are their .. i removed the two bolts (the one w/ the ground and the one without) and i now can't figure out how to get it out .. i shoved my hand in their and pulled it every damn way possible .. out .. in.. side to side.. it wont come loose.. did i miss anything? how do you get it out of their so i can get the new one in .. thanks

I removed the downpipe and took it out from the bottom.

Can you move the starter at all? There are only the 2 bolts holding it on and I got mine out through the battery area as well.

i figured it out and thought i'd write a reply just in case any one else has this problem and uses the search function .. i had to use a long ass screwdriver and pry it away from the tranny .. that broke it free and then i had to put my hand as close to the firewall as i could and go around all the hoses and grab it and pull and twist it out as close to the firewall as i could ..

with all that stuff removed -- i dont have anything in the way ( i also have a 1g intake with the brace removed )

i found it much easier to pull it out from under the car close to the firewall......i unbolted the downpipe and just wiggled the starter out after unbolting it.
