2g rear tire wear

An alignment would be the way to fix it.

When you lower a 2g it gains ridiculous amounts of camber in the rear. This can be compensated for with the DIY washer method or a commercial "camber kit".
Additionally, the wear you're seeing on your tires may well be hurried along by excessive camber but if an alignment was never performed after lowering, or very long since, you can bet that the wear is from excessive toe; not camber. And not because the car has 17 inch wheels.

Your post is somewhat.. incomplete. Could you please fill in your vehicle profile so we can better assist?

local mechanic did one and said there is no more adjustment. but thanks for the fast response.

wheels were on when i bought it 2 years ago. ive put4 sets of tires on and had a 4 wheel alignment each time. sounds like i need a better mechanic. i appreciate your help very much

vehicle profile? ok, let me find how to do that. thanks

When you lower the car, the camber goes negative (the wheels lean inward) as they lean inward, they toe in more. Camber won't kill the tires, BUT mix it with toe being out of spec (0 toe) it can eat tires pretty fast. If you mechanic is telling you it's at the adjustment limits, then you need a camber correction kit. It there is too much camber, the toe adjustment can become out of range.

Do Florida cars see rust? It's possible you have rust-welded rear toe adjusters - but it would be pretty obvious to a mechanic.

Can you post up an alignment sheet? Or maybe just provide the measurements? 4 sets of tires is pretty crazy depending on the use and the tire of course, but I'd wager few of us that don't track our cars actually wear down that much rubber, even @ 180 treadwear.

if you drive on the beach and dont wash the car good after you sure will see rust, but i even rinse the underside as best i can. not much rust anywhere. i probably should have mentioned i bought this car to intentionally beat the shit out of it. the 91 has been driven hard but not beaten. this one i do abuse everyday. love passing v8's. sounds like i need to get another alignment and pay attention to the results, not just what im told. thanks again

So alignment shops will only put the alignment to what they claim are the specs. My brother is a mechanic and when I have him do an alignment, I have to fight him to get it to be where I think I want it.

i would like the back tires to last at least as long as the fronts. those i burn up in 10,000 miles, and its my fault. i can live with that. but those steel belts showing on the inside back tires has got to stop. ill have to find someone who will work with me better. thanks
