Car is a 95 TSi. The rear defroster button stopped working. The light does not go on in the button. The fuse is fine. I swapped the button with my friends and no change.

I am so stumped.

I don't own a 2G ;) , but I'll give this a shot. Anyone with better information chime in!

It appears looking at a wiring diagram ;) that there are two fuses (#13 and #6) You should have constant power to fuse #6 and power when the ignition switch is on to Fuse #13. There is also a fusible link (#2) that provides power to those circuits.

There is also a defogger relay above the junction box near your left leg rest. It looks like the relay is on the left side just above the bottom of the dash. You can test this or just swap with your friend's

I'll send you a circuit description, wiring diagram and some tests to help you.

Okay that sucked

Here are a few photos.

I can see him turning his head sideways at his computer screen to try and read your manual in Arkansas while he's in Michigan. Or maybe i'm just strange.... :|

Anyway
Let us know how everything goes

To make sure that your complete neck gets a workout, I made sure that the photos were turned in at least three direction. I didn't do upside down because I didn't want anyone falling out of their chair. :D

well i'm bringing this one from the dead. so,thanks for the post everyone! i happened to need this very important information. :thumb: . my convertible top rear defroster took a poop on me the other day,.. and we had almost a foot of snow here at my place.

anyway, i think the relay works fine because i can hear something is clicking under the passenger bottom dash. though, the light does not lit up whenever i push the switch. now, the problem is, that i have a hanes manual and does not have any defogger relay on them. so, can you guys tell me what kind of manual i should get? thanks for the help.
