2G 2G New 99 GST fuel tank question

I’m looking at repair data and it seems to confirm what you say, and contradict what I said in another thread

In the repair manual it shows the charcoal canister is located internal to the gas tank, that it is bolted onto and into the gas tank for the 1999 model Gst

In the repair manual for a 1996 Gst the canister is located under the battery tray in the engine bay, but there are several check valves under the car before the fuel tank.

So contrary to what I said in another thread, in later models the charcoal canister is bolted into the fuel tank

Here's a diagram of the 99 GST fuel tank. You may want to verify the other things that also may need hooking up attention to use a 95-97 tank like fuel pump, fuel gauge, various hoses, valves, etc.

As Chrysler Kid said, 95-97 gas tanks have the charcoal canister outside of the gas tank, and 98-99 have the canister in the gas tank. Looking at the diagram luv2rallye posted, it seems as though the 98 and 99 are the same gas tanks.
so if the pre-98 tanks don’t have the canister it would be like deleting it
I believe there's some difference in the mounting holes and filler neck too, so they might not be compatible. See my old thread here: Gas Tank Differences

I actually have a tank in my backyard, if you want to pay shipping from MD.

Thank you all for the info! I really appreciate it, I finally got the tank out today, and I think it’s going to be ok, I might need to find the part that sits to the left of the charcoal canister, I broke it removing the tank does anyone know what that’s called?
