Ive searched but most threads were old, I dont know if things changed.

I have a 92 Talon AWD auto. This being my first 1g, Ive already grown to hate the stock maf and intake with a passion. I have a spare 2g maf laying around that I want to put in.

From what a researched I need some sort of tuning program in order to run it correctly. Is that true?

Since I have the stock 390cc injectors, could I just put in 450's to make up for the 20% more air? A local buddy of mine said he has wired in a 2g maf without a tuning program with out any problems.

Thanks ahead of time

No theres no actual issues with it.

I just hate the lack of aftermarket intakes for 1g's. K&n filter is 45 bucks and thats just a filter. For that price I could have a full hard intake pipe for a 2g maf. And where the recurc tube on the 1g is just retarted. The air box is giant, had to take out the bov just to remove it to do a boost leak test. Putting it back in was pissing me off too.

Im just use to my 2g where in 1 min I have my intake off. Plus it will clean up the engine bay.

Can anyone answer my earlier question?

ok get a logger of some type, to tune with your set up at least, or dsmlink at least get a logger, and a wideband if your turning up boost.

It would work as long as everything is working normally (i.e. fuel trims), but I recommend at least getting a logger to make sure you're not leaning out. 450s are only 14% bigger than 390s. Your fuel trims will take care of that teentsy 6% and under boost you should be more than fine since the stock 1g ecu targets 9.3:1 under boost (super rich)

Again though, get a logger just to be sure.

Okay Im trying to keep this car as stock as possible for now. Dsmlink is in the picture, just way down the road.

Is there any cheap loggers I can use?

Also im keeping the stock 13g til it goes, then a 14b is taking its place. The boost will stay stock as well.

So what im gathering is I should be plunty fine. But just to be extra safe, a logger is recomended?
