ive checked out all the other "machine gun" posts and everyone seems to have different theories on this machine gun sputter..

now when i rev mine up it makes the sputter and i can see puffs of smoke coming from the o2 housing where it meets the exhaust. Can anyone tell me for sure that this leak can cause this awful machine gun sound? :dsm:

Removing the safc and leaving the 550's in there is a HORRIBLE idea.

True, but what's worse... running super rich at boost, or running super lean/nasty because of the SAFC. I personally would eliminate the SAFC variable and have a drivable car while searching for funds to replace it or upgrade. If you remove the SAFC (you really don't even have to fully remove it, just unsplice the airflow wires from the SAFC, and splice them back together on the main harness going into the ECU) and the stuttering stops you could very well possibly say you've found the solution. Or you could find that you need to dig deeper.

Either way the car shouldn't really be driven.

Edit: Do you have a wideband? Or 450cc injectors to reinstall?

Edit: I've heard rumors that folks running a 2G MAS can run the 550's, not perfectly, but better than nothing. However YMMV

If I were you I would try and get the car running right before trying to make any sort of power. It sounds like whoever you bought it from has, or had no idea what he was doing. However, that's just my take on it. I would also say that we need a video of the problem to really help you, as of now we're just shooting in the dark.

I had a 90 talon I picked up it was doing having a simular issue turns out the SAFC in the car was bad. So I put stock injectors back in and splice the cut wire at the ecu and it ran fine. I woud get some stock injectors and pull the safc to see if thats your issue.

Dump the safc all together and get link. If you can't read it it is worthless! Like said find some 450cc put them in and see if that fixes it. With gas coming out your tail pipe, you have washed your oil too witch will lead to bearing failure down the road.

i have a wideband but im missing the o2 sensor part of the harness, so im gonna order it or if the dude who gave it too me cant find it. its brand new never been used wideband he just miss placed the o2 part and the bung ill have to weld on when i get the o2 harness. the car isnt being driven. maybe 10 miles a week as of right now. not even. im gonna go take a video..

 i dont get it, now its not doing it. i went to take a video and now it wont "machine gun" last night i did get maybe a quarter turn more tight on 2 of the 4 bolts on the exhaust manifold to turbo. but idk i doubt that was the issue. i might have another safc2 on the way. just waiting on a text from a friend. i would get dsm link but i dont have that kinda money to fork out right now.. i dont wanna down grade injectors cause im working on upgrading my turbo soon. i hate but love dsms.. :banghead:

New safc2 is coming - check
new exhaust mani gasket, turbo flange gasket, o2 housing gasket and exhaust gasket coming - check
