2g GST. Code p1715 pulse generator

I got a 2g GST. it is shifting really aggressive. and this code comes up. P1715 and from the search looks like pulse generator assembly. but i seen that there are several different locations for the PG assembly. so where would mine be located at.

i see where the shifter lever is on the trans case looks like there is a sensor that is going to the bottom of that assembly. is this the PG assembly or is this a internal part to the transmission?

This needs to be addressed. Guru's jump on it. I am having very similar problems. Any help would be appreciated.

BUT I would test the TCU, ECU, check fuses, throw some shockproof in there and restart the ECU and report back.

are you having the same CEL code as well? im not sure how to test the TCU. and ECU has been reset several times.

Just trying to figure out where this sensor is located at on the transmission

do these 2 share the same connector?

It doesn't look like it does after looking at the first picture. Also, the 3rd image (component check) says to disconnect two different connectors.

Pulse generators are on the same connector, they are easy to check buy ohming them out to see if they are in spec or not. One has a clear tube covering the electrical wire and one has a black wire. You can't just buy one you they both come together. And yes this will put your car in limp mode.

I have a 96 Mitsubishi Galant 4 cylinder 2.4 the motor and it has a problem in the transmission that turn on in the service engine light and does not change. I put the scanner and it mark the code p1715 and I put a new transmission and it did the same thing it did not change and I don't know what is the problem. Please help me solve my problem.
