How do you remove the needles from the speed/RPM gauges without messing up the position?
- I know it resets to the bump stop thing automatically but I wasn't sure how to go about removing and reinserting them.

When removing the gas/temp gauges, will they automatically recalibrate to the proper readings?
- This question is a little more important.. My gauge cluster needs replaced so I bought a new one on ebay with only 37 more miles than mine had.. I would just like to know if the temp and fuel gauges will work regardless of the reading they had from the previous car.

I asked in this forum because you guys have the exact same gauges as I do so I figured you would be the most help. Thanks.

Resetting the Speedo and Tach gauges are hard. Typically you can just move the needle past the little black stopper and then mark where the needles lays. When you change out the gauges and then put the needle back in that same position.

As far and the temp and fuel, when you put the new ones in they will set themselves with your original settings. I changed out my whole cluster to fix this issue when I put in aftermarket gauges.

Thanks for the reply bedlam.

What is the reason for moving the needles past the stop to reset them.. Is it just an easy way to make sure the needle is reattached in the exact position?

yes and u only have to do it with the tach and the speedo. ## temp and fuel are completely different though

Sry for the thread revival but the temp gauge needle does not reset itself.. I am having that problem now... For the temp needle, set your key to the on position but do not start your car, watch where the needle sits. If it is still at zero when the car is cold then you are okay, but if it jumps up any then you will have to pull the needle and recalibrate it so it sits at zero with cold car and key in on position...

The same is true for the fuel gauge. I suppose there's a little bit of misinformation in the second post.
