If anyone has done S.S lines on a 2g 97+ i need some help if you have the answer. First comes what I have and have done:;

Walbro feeding bosch external pump. Retained the stock fuel pump housing except had a -8 fitting brazed onto the fuel pump housing feed line.

I ran -8 to the bosch then up to the rail. I have -6 coming back to fuel pump housing and clamped onto the return line on the fuel pump housing.

The last metal line on the top of the awd housing is a siphon (vent). I just ran that line to the bottom of the car.

All metal lines under the car, and the charcoal canister etc are gone.

Problem:
I start the car it runs for a bit and then i get a bit of fuel that spits out of the vent (siphon line) that goes to the bottom of the car. It seems that shifts in pressure inside the tank cause fuel to back up the siphon line and dump onto the ground.
Now obviously originally there was a check valve to prevent air from getting sucked back into this line but would let air out. That hasnt been on the car for 2 years.

Now the only solution I could think of is pull out the pump housing and cut that metal vent line in the tank about 1/2 an inch below the top of the housing. Then on the outside of the housing I will run the line below the car.

If I am correct this would allow all the fuel to spill in to the tank rather then out of the tank and still allow for vent.

But will the siphon still work?HuhHuh?

HAS ANYONE HAD THIS PROBLEM....what is the solution?

Thanks for the help!

MANY people have done stainless lines on 2Gs, not sure why anyone would think otherwise.

I'm not sure why you even had to mess with the vent line. Upgrade the feed and return, and you should be all set. With very large pumps you can run into a restriction at the suphon line that pulls fuel from the other side of the tank (don't forget 2g AWDs have saddle tanks, returned fuel siphons fuel from the drivers side tank into the passenger side). The vent line should run to the charcoal canister, which was under the battery on my 95, but may be in the front corner of the car on later years. I got rid of all that shit, and left that line open. Blocking it can cause high pressure in the tank, leaving it open can cause some fuel odors if you park it indoors. I didn't mess with anything but the feed and return line at the tank itself.
