i've searched and searched but i haven't found anything specific, just some people saying yes it can be done but they just "heard" nothing like, i did it in my car or you need this and this, does anybody happen to know if its possible and what parts modifications i need?

the reason is because i bought a 1g shell, i have either a 6 bolt or 2g 7 bolt blocks but a 2g awd auto tranny (its actually an evo3 tranny but is suppoust to be the same as a 2g, im i correct?)

please, i dont want you to tell me, buy a 1g tranny, just want to get some information on the 2g tranny, thanks in advance

I was looking into putting a 1g tranny into a 2g a while back and came to the conclusion it can't be done, but... If you wanted to put a2g tranny in a 1g it can be done, reason for this is on the 2g awd three of the four motor mounts are on the trans, but on the 1g there on the motor, I believe the gear ratios are all the same its just the mounts that cause the problem, that was for a 5 speed though.

It will bolt up. You need the top tranny mount and most likely the transfer case. There is one bolt hole on the 2g tranny that will not be utilized. The way the cables are mounted to the tranny are a little different too. Just keep the bracket off of the 1g tranny to use. The 2g 7 bolt however does not bolt right in to a 1g. It can be done but its an extensive amount of fab work for mounts

thats good to know, thanks

do you guys know it the flywheel off of a 6 bolt will fit on the 2g turbine?
what about the rear end, is it the same, will i have any problems?

i do have the 2g t-case so it makes things easier, i guess?

I have some links that will answer all your questions, but I have to wait to get home to post the links. I can't do it on my work computer for some reason, the links get screwed up.

From what I read, you'll need the "2g auto to 6 bolt adaptor" from Kiggly Racing. The 2g auto trans is a big longer or wider than a 1g transmission, so you'll need the 2g auto intermediate shaft (pretty rare!) and 2g passenger side axle. You'll still need 1g auto engine mounts (I think), and the transmission mount for the frame rail has to be modified. The links I have will explain it with pictures.

The frame rail may or may not have to be modified. I heard some people getting the 2g auto trans to fit in there, but others say its easier if you modify it a bit. Since the 2g auto trans is slightly wide, the end case comes very close to the frame rail.

EDIT. The Kiggly adaptor is 1/4" which pushes the transmission closer to the framerail.

I was unaware that the evolution 3 was available with an automatic transaxle...?
