My question is will a 2g GST (1995) run if you disconnect the battery after you start the car?

my headlights and dash dimmed last night and then my car died while driving down the road.

I pulled my alternator and battery and the both tested GOOD at the auto parts store.

My wiring seems fine so I am wondering if my alternator could still be bad even though it tested fine? My understanding is that even if you battery is junk the car will be able to run just fine as long as your alternator is functioning.

my battery is 2 months old. the alternator was made in mexico.

Thanks guys!

FIXED!!!

So I put in a new alternator rated at 75amps and a new belt. this did not fix the problem. when I started the car battery voltage was in the 11s. I used a multimeter and I started to check connections. Grounds checked out fine and so did the 4 wires in the connector.

Turned out that the power wire from the alternator to the 100amp fuse had a very high resistance (pretty much it was not making any connection) Instead of trying to rip this wire out I simply wired a new wire from the fuse to the alternator. I started the car and the battery was reading high 14s for voltage. I highly recommend checking ALL connections before blaming the alternator.
I already have the alt off the car. the alt fuse is not broken. if the car was running and you were to disconnect the battery will the car still run off the alt? (my honda civic does). I was planning on doing this test to help narrow things down
