Hello all. Beautiful day here, so can't complain. I picked up a 92 Eagle Talon Tsi, FWD, for a very very reasonable price. Its mildly modded, full exhaust, some cheapo intake and what I believe is a set of 264 cams. Its got quite the lope when idling. The problem is that occasional it will die. I'm coming from older 80's mustangs to a dsm with no knowledge of tuning. I'm thinking its either a vacuum leak, timing needs to be advanced a bit or both. When idling I know my a/f mixture runs very lean. I've been reading up on dsmlink and I'll be honest, I'm intimidated. I'm running full synthetic oil, all fluids changed, all belts replaced. Just bouncing ideas off you guys. Thank you very much.

It's tuning. When you increase the cam overlap it draws more air into the engine and lowers the vacuum in the intake manifold. You can't drop cams in and go without making some sort of tuning correction- the result will be a very lean idle.

Ok, thats what I assumed due to the very lean idle. At this point would dsmlink be viable or is it something that I can simply adjust?

Is dsmlink capable of fixing the problem? Also, could I fix this problem without dsmlink to get it running properly until I get it? Thanks

Ok, awesome, looks like that my next step. I went through the demo and it was asking what injectors were being used, I honestly do not know. I'm going to assume the are factory. Does it have a steep learning curve?

I'm not looking for anything over the top, with dsmlink and proper tuning, would stock injectors and fuel pump be adequate to support 16g turbo and intercooler from cxracing? I don't race, I just like knowing that if I need it, its there. The guy I got it from said its a stock bov but its obnoxiously loud. Going to look for a quieter one, but for 1k I'm very happy with the car.
