255 fuel pump question

I bought a walbro 225 fuel pump and i went to put in in and found there was some type of other pump already in there other than the stock one, i could tell because the wires were cut, spliced and taped together what i need to know is does the stock harness plug right into the pump or do you still have to splice it i hate having to drive around with the wires spliced in the fuel like that also the pump did not come with any wires and it is a 2nd gen

On the 2g, the walbro pump will be a direct plug in to the factory harness.
