Well since my stock DP flex section decided to fall apart it forced me to buy new exhaust. and since i dont have the money that most people on this board seem to have based on what they have bought i was forced to part together a exhaust system. the other reason i did this was there was no set up that i really liked all around. So heres what i got 12 feet of 3 inch 16 gauge piping O2 housing flange for custom 3in O2 damn near 20 3inch flanges and gaskets 3 inch weld in cut out 3 inch flex section 3 inch high flow cat and my favorite part the 3 inch in 2.5 dual out magnaflow muffler thats stock apearing. Should be decently quite unless the cut out is open and smog legal. all i have left to do is mandrel bend and weld which shouldnt cost more than 200$ leaving me well under my 500$ goal. here are some pics tell me what you think

Yes i forgot to picture them i got 2 one for the O2 and one for the wide band. yeah but i got the WHOLE system for 248 shipped why spend 120$ on just the DP without the cut out??

Nice that's very cheap for an entire system with all the gaskets and cut-out.

Are you going to be doing all the cutting an welding?

Yea commas are over rated,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, anyway i have the O2 flange for the elim part but its not pictured either. And i dont have a shop to work in where i can bend and weld . i used to bend exhaust when i worked at a shop but have since moved and no longer work automotive. I cant find a shop in my area that mandrels and i would hate to ruin it with press bend. the only shop i know of is a mustang shop and they charge 95$ an hour on exhaust work. im pretty sure i could do it in less then an hour but since they know they make money by the hour i think it might take them longer :thumbdown anyone know a place that mandrels around the DC area in VA i live in springfield annandale area zip 22151 Thanks

Took some pics of the magnaflow laying under the stock muffler to see how much they look alike

nice. I paid $450 for my 2.5" downpipe to 3" racepipe, then 3" back to magnaflow with 3"outlet, just 1 pipe out though. Mine sounds like a diesel. Putting a bigger muffler (to dampen the sound) with a 4.5" outlet, will look alot better.

well... uh... not to bust bubbles, but that is about how much my full 304 stainless cost me...
Will have a 2.5" turn down off turbo, then transition to 3" back. And that even included the stainless dump tube... But I got a 3" resonator and Megan N1 (120) about 180ish in pipes/bends/fittings...

whered you get all that and how much total with install and everything was it? prebent or what? i have posted like 4 topics on custom exhaust and where to get the cheapest set up from and all that stuff and never got any responces and now that i finally went ahead after a month or two of waiting on responce you want to jump on and say oh i got it better and cheaper??? thanks for being a great DSMer brother and not helping when asked multiple times for several months. i have seen several post on people asking where and how to get exhaust and no one responds so i started this to help give ideas and you jump on and wanna shoot it down. glad your a member of the board where your pretty much usless in helping others. ........... now that i got that out i think many people feel that way about the help on this board with people saying search instead of answers and also arguments started from people posting and bashing and idea with out give an answer...............where did you get your nice 304 SS set up and you want to post pics so others can take advantage of the knowledge since its to late for me....i couldnt find polished 304 SS set up for anywhere near the same total price

Hey jackass cool it.
I have been a really active member of this board for what? 1 month to 6 weeks? And yes I have posted about it before.
Sorry I do not hop into every single damn freakin thread about exhausts...
I never said it was polished, cause it is not.
I bought the stuff off of Ebay. A seller named Vertexnow. All in pieces, nothing assembled all DIY. I have a welder to spot the parts togeather, then take it to a shop to have them stainless welded, as my welder is not set up for stainless.
No I have not assembled it yet, I am actually still waiting on the shipment to come in.

EDIT: As a side note it is not my fault that you do not know how to search Ebay for stainless steel bends...

well i do know how to search and spent 2 months doing so. where did you get the SS cut out?? I found a ton of unpolished stainless for like 70+shipping for a 10 foot section. but after more searching and reading it turns out to be 14 gauge steel which is fence post steel. heavy as hell and i was interested in it. if you wanna put fence post steel on your car ebay is the way to go. i dont know if thats what you got but thats why i went with aluminzed steel that was 50$ shipped to my house for 12 feet 16 gauge so its lighter.

Don't have a cut out, do not want one either. And finally I would not weld one in. If you need a snif test that is an automatic fail. The reason I would not weld one in is different metals.

I have been looking at Vertex's auctions for 6 months. I just literally got my talon yesterday, half the stuff I got for it I had/ordered even before I owned the car.

I had made the exhaust originally for my Conquest TSi with the 4G63 swapped into it. With the muflers and resonator it might weigh 25 Lb's. I am not for sure because I never weighed it. I will tomarrow though.

The thickness is about 1/16". And as noted, it isa not "fence post steel" and does not weigh a ton.

My last order to them was parts that will be needed, and other parts that might be needed to adapt my Conquest exhaust to the Talon.
I will cut/paste the parts from email...
(2) 3" Stainless Steel 90 Degree 4.5" Radius Bend No Leg
(1) 2.5" Stainless Steel 90 Degree Exhaust Bend Short Leg
(1) 3" Stainless Steel Exhaust Tube Tubing - 2' section
(1) 1.25" Stainless Steel Intercooler Tube - 3' section
(1) O2 304 SS Stainless Steel Sensor Ring
(1) 3" x 2.5" Stainless Steel Exhaust Collector Reducer
Total $141.77 shipped.

The parts that I already have/reusing...
2 3" 90 degree bends
Approx 7' of 3" tubing All 304 stainless. (I got alot more then that when I ordered) but
that is what I am reusing.
The tubing was $53? and the 2 bends were 20 ea.
So add about $120 to include shipping.

$26X.XX...

Again do not get mad with me because you cannot search Ebay...
Hell I sent them (Vertexnow) many emails asking about various things, it turned out that they sold everything (but the resonator and muffler) that I wanted and got. I just had to shoot them emails about parts I was looking for.

Just FYI I did the Conquest exhaust for 180 ish plus the resonator and muffler.

And not to say anything but if you knew how to search Ebay how did you miss this seller? Hell just type in "Stainless exhaust bend" and all it hits is vertexnow...

well i did search and found a ton of that but i didnt wana ton of welds i would rather have straight pipes bent to a perfect fit with as few welds as possible. the thing i cant decide is weather to weld or uses flanges at stock locations so it could be interchangable with other products. i found 14 SS from performence curve on Ebay but wasnt to interested in fence posts. i looked thru his complaints and they were all about the SS being way to heavy. I was under the impression you had done it a different way. yes i could have probably been under 300$ total with labor if i went with prebends but i dont like that way. to each his own. also a look shop said 300$ to do it all with out a cat but it would be press bend. take a pic of yours when its done i wanna see what pre bends turn out like.

Thought i would throw mine out, Single tip magnaflow 3in with slash cut.

Well i havent updated my profile in a bit, But its all mandral 3in o2 back, 3in cat, and the muffler, it cost me 475 installed at a shop here. i can grab some more pics tommorow if you guys want to see.

If you could do that ChefTSI that'd be great. I'm trying to figure what the best setup would be and how much it will cost. I definately want a magnaflow too. You don't happen to have any soundclips do you?

I also built my own 3" a couple weeks ago and I couldn't be happier with it. I wanted a 3" mandrel bent exhaust that was as cheap and quiet as possible. I didnt need stainless because I probably won't have this car by the time the exhaust rusts out, and nobody will be looking under my car so it doesn't need to be pretty. For a total of $215.35 I got exactly what I wanted.
I bought:
1) A 3" N1 Style (cheap) muffler on ebay w/shipping $56.95
2) A 3" 3-Ply flex pipe on ebay w/shipping $48.45
3) A 3" Catalytic Converter on ebay w/shipping $49.95
4) A 7ft long piece of 3" aluminized steel pipe $20 (local shop)
5) 2 3" Mandrel U-Bends on ebay w/shipping for about $40 (give or take $2)

I welded it all together, and cut the 4" tip off the muffler because I hated it. I welded on a 3" tip to make it look "less" illegal to the police in the area. The muffler is 3" on the inside anyway, so it didnt hurt the flow any. Once installed, I noticed a huge increase in high rpm power, not much difference below 4000 rpm. It now pulls all the way to redline and pulls harder than it had with stock exhaust.

Anywho, hope I helped all of you cheap people like myself.
Jeremy
