i posted this question before, but all i enede up getting were responses that didnt help in the slightest like "i looked into upgrading to 2 piston for my car, it was really expensive, you probally have single piston calipers"

so heres the question, my 91 has 2 piston calipers from a later model dsm. i wasnt sure they were 2 piston untill i counted the postons when the wheels were off during an engine swap. the problem is i didnt out them on, they were on my car when i bought it.

what i want to know is, when 1g brakes are upgraded to dual piston calipers, are the stock rotors used or are different rotors used to match the new calipers? i need to know because im ordering cross drilled and slotted OEM replacement brembo rotors over the internet and i dont want to order them and not realize they dont fit untill i try and put them on.

the other question i have is about brake pads. are the front pads from all 2g's the same? because im going to order pads to put on with the rotors and im drawing a blank on what year i should order the pads for.

any help is appriciated, thanks in advance

all you need to get is the awd rotors and awd brake pads. The 2 piston caliper is matched with a 10.83 inch rotor while the normal fwd brakes are a single piston caliper matched with 10.08 inch rotors. So if you have the 2 piston calipers then you need the awd rotors.
As far as brake pads, the fwd and awd use different brake pads for all years with a couple of exceptions like some 90-92 awd.

you misunderstand, i have a 91 1g awd, which should have came with single piston front calipers from the factory. it has 2 piston front calipers, presumably from a 2g awd.

what im asking is do i need rotors to match the calipers? or do i order rotors for a 91?
and if i do have to order rotors to match the calipers is there any difference between the calipers that came on the late 1g and 2g awd cars, or are they all the same?
because i dont exactly know what year car the calipers came off of, is there any way i can tell the different year calipers appart? i know 2g awd's came with the dual piston calipers, and i think 92-94 awd's did as well(im not sure because the 93 i used to have had the calipers replaced, with dual piston ones, recently before i bought it, so i dont know if it ever had single piston).

see, the rotors im going to order can be ordered for a 90-92, 92-94, 95, or 96-99, in either fwd or awd. so im sure you can see my delema, not knowing what year to order rotors for because i dont know know what year car the calipers came from.

You need to order the pads and rotors for a 93+ AWD up front and for the actual year (91) of your car for the rear.

yea, i noticed a table on RRE's site that says all the pads are the same last nite, but thats really the least of my problem. and iv read everything vfqa and RRE has about this brake upgrade. but since i didnt do the upgrade myself i really dont know what year rotors i should be using

does anyone know if all year 2 piston caliper rotors are the same size/sweep area?
because the rotors from dsmparts.com i was planning on ordering can be ordered for 90-91, 92-94, 95, and 96-99 awd. i was thinking maybe i need the rotors from a 93-94 since i have a 1g, that would make sense if the size and sweep area were the same. but thats what im not sure of
