Hey guys,

Building my gst into a
2.3l, E85, HX35 (.70), AWD weekend warrior. Having a hard time deciding an IM, and TB.

Right now I have BC 272's, and ported 2g head.

HP goals are to max the 35 out, so 550 +. I would like to keep the power band lower and have a good amount of torque. I have found a magnus SMIM for a 1g TB on the classified.

I was really interested in the JMF race from extreme though as well.

As for TB I have really no Idea.

In my research I came across people saying the decisions were determined by goals and set up, so I wanted to throw mine out there.

Thanks in advance for your guys input!

If you were running a 1g head the choice would be pretty simple for those goals, a stock 1g mani.

The Magnus sheet metal pieces have some serious issues with even distribution, and I would only recommend their cast pieces.
A street type manifold would better support your goals over a part designed to increase power over 8,000 rpms.

Right, with the 2.3l, 8-85 would be max rpm anyways. With moving more air, the the stroker would need a larger IM to take full advantage correct?

I'm not sure about the 2g manifold, but none of the aftermarket manifolds can touch a stock 1g mani until after 6,000 rpms.

Revving that setup past 8,000 rpms is just beating on parts.

A larger plenum does help to support more power. But more important is the runner length. Runner length and cam choice decide what rpm range the engine is going to want to make peak power. Mismatching the cams/intake to the bottom end/turbo makes for a non optimal setup.

From what I've seen, that setup will make peak power between 6000-6500 rpms any way.

evo3 intake would be a good stock upgrade over the regular 2g manifold..... as Mello suggested. Another option is to fill in the runners on a 1g or a cyclone manifold and use it on the 2g head. I've only seen someone do that to the cyclone to mate it to a 2g head. I'm not sure what the results were but I seem to remember it made a very nice streetable setup.
