I have a '99 gst with a 6-bolt swapped, but it has always taken three tries to start the car. I do have upgraded 272 cams, but the car wouldn't even try to turn over the first couple times.

I didn't mind this, but now I think the starter has gone bad. It takes 10-15 times of turning the key back and forth to get the car to try to turn over.

Is this a sign of a bad starter?
Do I need a 1st or 2nd gen starter for a 6-bolt?

Thanks.

I called slowboy, and they told me that I needed a 2nd gen starter.

Then, I called Buschar to double check and they told me that I needed a 1st gen.

Does anyone know?

Hahahaha.

Who told you that at Buschurs?

This is Chris from SBR, I gave you that information. On my 2g swap, I used my stock starter. This will ensure that it will bolt to the bellhousing. The ring gear on a 1g or 2g is the same for 1gawd/2gawd and 1gfwd/2gfwd. So, the 1g starter, I don't beleive will bolt up to your tranny, but I'm not completely sure. I can tell you for 100% Certainty that the 2g will work just fine.

ok thanks ... You sounded like you knew what you were talking about, but I just thought I would double check before I ordered the wrong part .. LOL.

Thanks Chris
