Hey guys. I am buying a new DSM this week. It was a 92 Laser RS Turbo. It is very clean and was well maintaned. I hate the bumpers on the Lasers and I am a Talon guy.

I am wanting to see if any of you guys have Talon bumpers on your Laser. Also, are the tail lights from a Laser and Talon able to be swapped? I plan on doing a full laser to talon swap. Pics, advice, info, etc. would be awesome.

Thanks!

It should fit fine as long as your donor is a 1990-1992 body.

Ya, as stated above, it will work as long as they fit the same category body style. 90-91 is known as 1ga. 92-94 is aka 1gb. 95-96 is 2ga , while 97-99 is aka 2gb. Hope this helps

I know any 1GB bumper will fit. I am more concerned about the rear fitting. Like the tail lights. Brandon, a 90-91 wouldn't fit as they have the pop-up headlights. I plan to use a 93-94 front bumper.

I have looked for pics of some of the members lasers on here but when searching, most of the threads were putting a Laser bumber on a talon. Which surprised me that that amount of people actually like that. Google was helpful though. I was able to find a few pics of a laser with a talon bumper on it.

I know the eclipse and talon tail lights are unable to be swapped without a little bit of modding. Not sure about the laser tail lights.. I am asuming there would be some modification to the center bumper support involved to successfully swap tail lights. Keeping in mind that I would like to install the center tail light piece as well. I plan to do a full talon to laser swap. Anyone have any input?

AHH I missed the 1GB in your title. well in that case then I do not know. I have seen a thread about 2 months back about someone switching a 1GB to a 1GA but I do not remember the thread title

Ive done the swap. You will need to drill into the car to have the side skirts mount up correctly, as well as modify how the rear bumper mounts. The laser has a straight across rear bumper, while the talon dips in the middle, where the license plate is. You basically have to cut the where the bumper mounts, and move it down a few inches to get the talon rear to line up.

You could do an eclipse 1gb rear, theres are flat across, and the tailights are also compatible.

Here's a reference point- talon rear

Front bumpers will swap just fine, no issues there, except for re-lining up a front mount, if you have one.

Interesting. I would rather spend the time and swap to a talon rear.

I figured the front bumper would be a simple take off-put on swap. The rear I knew was going to be a little more complicated.

And the side skirts sound pretty easy. Just some drilling of wholes in the sides for the clips correct?

Thanks for that great info.

I'm currently in the process of putting a 1gb talon rear end on my 92 laser. This is turning out a lot more complicated than I understood it was going to be.
I have the talon tail light and center section and Talon rear bump.
The problems that I'm stepping into is the bumper support is a good 3" lower than on a talon and I haven't read about this being a problem anywhere but I now have no place to bolt the top of the bumper. Also, after modding the laser side marker brackets to finally bolt to the bumper we found out they don't fit to the car now. If anyone could help that would be awesome. Thanks

I switched my 2g eclipse to talon rear.

Pretty simple really. Drill through the spot welds for the bumper support then use a paint scraper or something similar and a mallet to get them off with warping. Raise or lower accordingly. drill new holes, use some ss bolts I got @ o'reillys for 10$. done. I didn't want to hassle with welding the brackets back on. Now I can easily switch between the 2 rear ends with just 30 or some minutes of work.

Hope that helps you with moving your bumper supports around.

Lights and everything bolt back up only thing is you need to cut away this part of the sheet metal in the back

As stated above grab a chisel and a heavy hammer an knock away the tack welds. Then cut away the marked part (you can tell how much by mocking up the bumper next to it). After that you can you use some self tapping bolts in the remaining parts to hold the bumper skin on.

I just got a 93 eclipse base, and I currently am swapping body, dash, and interior from a 92 Eagle Talon tsi.
Because well sadly the talon died, and I've never attempted body swaps. The talon is all power and leather on the inside which will all go in 93 eclipse, I haven't done anything in the rear im still on the front end.
But anyways does anyone know how I should make the power windows work, there is a fist full of wires in talon doors bit only a few like 5 from eclipse coming out.
