I have the conversion list from magnus and wire diagram. I'm just not sure if I have to change coil packs. I have flywheels from both and appear to be same. Any suggestions welcome. very familiar with 2g just not 1g.

I don't remember the exact measurements, but the awd flywheels are smaller than the fwd. I also am pretty sure that 1g and 2g flywheels AREN'T the same .. so chances are you'll need a new one either way. Actually a friend of mine swapped a 6 bolt into a 1995 tsi and bought a stock 1g flywheel to do the swap.

This is directly from Road // Race's site:

AWD flywheels have a smaller outer diameter and smaller diameter ring gear. 1G AWD flywheels have an additional weight ring cast into the back side to increase the weight.

FWD flywheels with their larger diameters have less material on the back side. You can see the step down on the outer diameter
