The port sizes are completely different but the flange is the same. I wouldnt do it. If you need a 2G stock intake manifold, hit up the classifieds or shoot me a PM.

i got a really nice powdercoated 1g intake manifold and i'm going to try it anyways but i just want to know if it will seal or not.

well i'm going to try it anyways cause i have a blown intake gasket. i got the manifold for a deal and i already have it and the gasket. i just wanna know if it seal fine

i'm not asking for advise, i'm asking if it will seal cause someone has ###### tried it.

Geez look at his rep. he is a moderator im sure he isnt leading you in the wrong direction :banghead:.. but if you must do it at least try to get it port matched... if its possible i have never seen a 1g next to a 2g.

I would be afraid to take that much material out of the floor of the port and risk running into the water jacket. Here's what they look like side by side. To the OP, you would probably be cheaper off selling the 1g mani and having your 2g mani powdercoated as compared to how much it would cost to have the head ported that much. Seriously, if you don't want to really hurt your performance, stick with the 2g mani.

thanks for that. the head ports look the same but the 2g just looks like the ports have been close up. i'm going to try it tomorrow cause i have nothing to loose just trying. i'll post the results after i'm done.

:notgood: I hope you grenade it

yeah wait until a peice of that gasket falls of and goe's and gets stuck in a valve and he floats it.... hopefully at high rpm's.. then we will see a thread ... Help Car suddenly died ROFL

maybe if i used a 2g gasket i would have to worry about it but i'm using the 1g gasket which fits nicelyand is no wear near falling in the hole. i didn't ask for advise i just asked if the gasket would leak. i found someone that has done it and they said it works fine but you lose bottom end and gain top end.

I don't think the gasket's the biggest issue. It has the sealing surface required to seal the 1g mani against the 2g head with a 1g gasket. I think the biggest problem (if he doesn't match the ports) is going to be the huge amount of turbulance it's going to cause. plus it's going to kill the velocity of airflow into the combustion chambers. If he does decide to port match then that's opening up a whole new can of worms. On the bright side, if/when he does it he can bear witness for anyone else that wants to do this in the future.

thanks and yes i plan to port the head if it seals. i just want to test the idea and see if it seals before i pull the head and port it so i don't screw up a good head.

Yes it will seal perfect with a 1g gasket; no it's not a good idea. My cousin did this just because he was sick of seeing that ugly 2g intake; he just radiused the intake ports on the head to match the ports. Power wise he's decent, but I can't say if it helped or hurt it (I would guess a slight power loss if anything tough). I'd say it was a waste to wreck a good head doing that too it.

Porting the floor of the port is another bad idea. That's the part of the port that you always want to leave alone. The goal for better performance would be to "raise" the port. Hence the reason why 2G's have a smaller, raised port.

You're going to completely ruin your head if you attempt to port it to match the 1G manifold.

got it on, seal is good, running ten times better.

:hmm: So it runs better with the wrong intake manifold, as apposed to the correct one?

How do you account for that?

Assuming that you cannot provide a good explanation to the above question, we are obviously not going to believe a car runs better with mismatched parts, nor are we ever going to recommend it.

Lol.I would let it go man.Obviously this kid is like 16 and really doesnt really know about this or any other car.If he thinks it runs good, let him run it.Maybe he figured out a secret to more horsepower with nonsense combinations of stock parts..LOLROFL
