1G maf sensor to 2g maf sensor

ok can i wire up a 2g mass air flow sensor up to my 1g talon so i can use an aftermarket airfilter. will it run ok?. If so can u give me a wiring diagram. this maf is so big and can not find a aftermarket filter to fit.

thanks for giving me some options brotha. would i have to change the entire wiring harness in my 1g in order to work with the 2g MAF or splice it into the harness i already have? this might seem like a no-brainer question to you but , like i said im trying to get some more info on how to go about doing it and doing it right. but i should also do some more research about it too.

i wasn't able to see what you had attached to your post. i was thinking about SD and running that for a while too, but i didn't know if i would be able to pass emissions. but for right now im looking to get a street-able 300-350bhp when the Laser is all said and done. what would be some pros and cons running 2g MAF or eprom 1g ECU?

For just the maf to run on the car regardless of the EMS you will need to make a harness like this or buy one.

Or wire a 2g maf harness in directly in place of the 1g maf connector under the hood. There is a link in this thread on how to do that.

Running a 2g Ecu would be a bit more involved then that though... .

It was just a couple cars Racing. Not sure on your local DEQ. But, if you left the Maf in the Intake track it Should at least make it so the car would pass a visual inspection in that aspect. But to answer that you I'd have to know more about your local testing standards and what not. Just depends on who you deal with a lot of the time with what some places will let slide.

As far as Pro's and cons there are a lot of factors. I'm short on time right now but maybe I can go over some of that at a later time.

If you have a 1g tsi awd basically stock except for free mods, would the 2g MAF be of any benefit?

hey can somebody tell me hot re wire a Maf on 97 gst.? the guy re wired wrong he told he forgot how wire it .. so it truns off but cuts off like it has no gas .???

Or the maf itself is bad, but Ya I'd check the wiring first.
