1g how install lowering spring

alright i have a 90tsi awd and i am getting lowering springs and i would like to find out how to exactly take out the shocks and srpings w/o breaking anything and how to put the new springs on my stock shocks...i know i got to use a coil spring compressor and everything but i ahve never seen one in use before....any suggestions would be helpful...thanks.
