Ok, for everyone that has a 6 bolt engine in a 2g this is for you.

I mapped out all the pinouts between the 1g and 2g ECU harnesses and using your 2g harness you can wire a 1g ECU using this configuration I have on paper. It's a pin to pin configuration. Remember that you'd still have to build the CAS harness to use this but it also eliminates the need to rewire your plug wires and will also help eliminate the dreaded misfire code that comes with using the 2g ECU if you don't have or want to use a chipped ECU.

Note also that there are 2 pins for the MFI relay that one wire uses on the 1g ECU, yes it is needed to attach both to that one wire as one is a signal as well as a switch to turn on the MFI system. They are a black with blue striped wire which is ground. The third (which is white/red) will not be used.

Hope this helps anyone wanting to do this as i will be...

Did I misread something? Why would anybody want to put a 1g ecu in a 2g? Lack of Link?

You also state "dredaded misfire code that comes with using the 2g ecu if you dont have or want to use a chipped ecu..." which sounds like the opposite -- using a 2g ecu in a 1g.

Which are you talking about?

I have a 6 bolt in a 2g. When I first installed it after studying how by using the stock 2g ECU because of the 7 bolt using a crank sensor the check engine light turns on and detects a random multiple misfire code. Within 3 days the engine looses power and is actually misfiring. The 6 bolt doesn't have a crank sensor (as known to all DSMers) so the signal isn't there for the ECU to monitor the firing. The only way I found to eliminate the misfire from ever coming back (and this is using stock ECU, not chipped) was to cut the 12v battery power to the ECU, however I'm not really a big fan of jerry rigging things but it got me by in a pinch.

Lately I've had problems with the car and narrowed the problem to the ECU. Well, the car has a 6 bolt in it so why not put the right ECU with the engine. The car is built mainly for road race build for looks not power (lets face it, my wife has a lead foot and loves to drive it more than me LOL. So I keep the boost low for a reason) and I'm not wanting to chip it. So I'm going stock 1g ECU cause its the right ECU for the engine and I wont have wiring issues or misfire codes I can't fix.

I could install a crank sensor to use the 2g ECU but the engine was built the way it was and I'd like to keep it that way. It's a choice, not something anyone else has to do but if they'd like to the pinout is there for them to see.

I like to also share these kind of things as well to help.

The build on the 2g is a road race build but its mainely more of looks than anything(i should havs specified that sorry) so chipping it wouldnt be of any real intrest to me...
