I recently replaced a few valves that were no good and while I was in there, I found out what it was that was causing this problem, my 3rd cylinder isn't firing at the same compression as the other 3. Its not much of a drop but its still not a good thing, how to fix and how long can I wait before I absoloutley have to fix it, I get paid bi-weekly, and thats just not often enough.
 
The valves could have been what was causing the low compression

But when the valves are replaced would the lost compression come back or would the compression stay the same? And is there any way that it could be visa versa of what you said and the low compression caused the valves to go bad?

To the bonjangles, I havn't ran a compression test and I don't have my book that says what the compression is, I know that its the stock ration of 9.0:1 But as far as PSI I'm clueless.
 
the valves will affect the compression. If you had bent/ burnt valves that's why the compression was low. You need to get a compression gauge on it though.
 
Could be valves or rings, a quick way to find out is (with compression gauge) you pull out one plug at a time, pour a couple of drops of brake fluid on the piston top, screw on the comp gauge and watch for the compression to rise, the fluid should compensate for the gaps on the weared rings, if compression is same then its your valves. Either way happy wrenching!!
 
Solution, leak down test. Air rushing through oil filler cap--rings, intake mani--valves, exhaust mani--valves, coolant--headgasket.
