I am building a 96 motor (full longblock), and I am using crower 3/4 race cams. I figured it would be much easier to break in the internals if I used stock cams, but I dont have any from 96. Could I use 1g stock turbo cams, or will there be problems with the CAS etc? Thanks.

yea you can use any of em... theres a few different style cams tho, some are more agressive than others.... but since your just using them to break in the motor i guess it doesnt really matter which ones you use... i wont go into detail since it doesnt really matter to you... but on that note, if you need a set to use, ive got my old auto cams (the least agressive of them all) ill let em go pretty cheap...

you need to drill and tap the intake cam for the CAS and other than that it will be a direct swap. I wouldn't expect to feel any power gains, however 1g cams do have more lift as 2g cams.

No you don't. The 96 heads have the crank angle sensor located by the cam gears. It will be a direct boltin for you. I did this mod already, I really noticed a gain, but also I installed a downpipe and underdrive pulley at the same time, so I wouldn't credit that result.

yea, the cams are all the same... direct bolt on....

definately noticed a huge difference in my swap from auto-cams to some turbo cams off a 92.... the ones with a 'd' intake and 'c' exhaust, for what its worth its the most 'aggressive' of the stock cams... see what i can do with 'em

thanks for the info, but once again, I wasnt going to do it for hp gains, just to get through break in before the crowers go in. Thanks.
