Okay, I have taken my center diff out of my trans to get welded and I had a few questions.

-How exactly does the fifth gear go back together? Is there a diagram? I just am not really sure how the syncro shoes are supposed to fit.

-How much harder is it to remove the large section of the case? My trans has been leaking gear oil and it seems to be coming from the seal around the first to parts of the case closest to the engine. (Any other places it could leak from and look like here?)

-What is the Tq for the two nuts on top the gearsets? The first two when taking it apart?

5th goes together just like you took it out. You will see the 3 keys, the spring, and where the everything lines up inside the hub and slider upon examination. Don't forget the wave spring which goes against the end case.

Tranny Rebuild

That is a link that should help you put the 5th gear back together and show what it takes to continue tearing the trans apart if you wish. I haven't seen a case leak yet that didn't have a hole in it though...

The lock nuts torque value are 102-115 ft lbs.
