1G 1G AWD flywheel cover plates top and bottom

Will I have a problem without having the flywheel covering plate for both top and bottom. I know it can contaminate anything inside the bell housing and yes, I can see the flywheel just by looking at it from the ouside. When I took the motor apart for rebuild, there wasn't any cover.

Another thing, I went to install the starter and I wasn't sure if it needs the top plate for the starter to be in the correct place other then screwing in the bolt pushing the starter to close or something.

i would def but 1 on there .. You dont want a rock to get in there (not a good time).Extreme psi sells them for like $6, pick one up

You're going to want that starter plate in place. Many people experience starter engagement issues without it.

Thanks. Is there a way to put the top part in while tranny still on motor b/c I know the bottom one can without removing the tranny I think?

Unfortunately, no. It goes between the transmission and block so the only way to get it back on is to separate the two.

it actually goes behind the flywheel so youll definitely have to pull the tranny to do it and remove the flywheel too. there are two bolts behind it I believe

dsm graveyard stocks both new for the 6 bolts for like thirty bucks for both
