Ok i have a 95 gst,the engine went boom. I bought a 91 motor and then only to find out that that motor was boom as well. Now what i plan to do is take the pistons from my 2g and put them on the 1g rods along with the 1g crank and block. I was going to take my 2g head and put new valves in it and new springs, and i was also going to use my 2g cams. Now as far as internals go does this setup sound right or am i missing something?

you are fine...
it's all the littel stuffthat is killer...

don't forget a flywheel to match the engine and the drivetrain (6bolt FWD/AWD) and you might as well get a new clutch an PP while you are in there...

and of course you need a 1g cas (recommend blacktop from a 93-94 turbo or NT)

why not not waste money and instead of paying 200-350 dollers to put used 2g pistons on 1g rods. buy topline replacments the 8.5/1 and there pretty much a 2g piston accept they fit 1g rods without removing wanted material thickness and theye would be new. I know somebody that used them. they were fine. I am a industrial xray tech so i xrayed them they looked fine. no porosity ur undesired slag in the material.

I would go with a 1g head to but thats me. Ive been straped for money before but it will save alot of money in the long run because you will eventually want to swap to a 1g head. also buy good gaskets. and a good head gasket. always use a oem timing belt
conitech, itm, gates and any other timing belt that clames to be good sill sux. remove balancshafts also. cheap and easy you dont even neet the kit. just remove belt from front shaft pull lower shaft out spin bearing to where oiling hole is disabled cut the shaft and then use the end as the plug. wow getto bsrk

xray tech in one thread and mechanic in another? Pretty talented individual.

Instead of paying to machine the rods to fit the pistons, just go with an offering from ross or wiseco. It'll be about the same for a set of forged pistons and it'll be peace of mind.
