1g 7 bolt in 2g?

i was just wondering.. can i use a 2g front cover and oilpump assembly on the 1g 7 bolt block? what about the 1g front cover?and oil pump..? does it have provisions to bolt up the 2g crankangle sensor??

i have a naked block without anything on it,thats why im asking.

and are thhe bearings on the 1g 7 bolt vin specific? i dont have a vin....

1G 7 bolt blocks are different than a 2G 6 bolt blocks. The 1G 7 bolt only uses a CAS.

what i want to know is ..can i get an 2g oilpump cover to fit the 1g motor?(are the two little holes there to bolt up the 2g crank angle sensor?

No. Even the 92-94 7 bolt side case covers are different. They use different timing marks on the case, and you wont be able to time it correctly, among multiple other things.

Just stick with the 1g parts. Why would you think that using 2g parts on a 1g block would actually be any "better"?

There was no 2g 6 bolt block. The 6 bolt happened from 89'-92.5' The first gen 7 bolts (92-94) and the second gen 7 bolts (95-99) are not the same engines.

A 1g block has to have a 1g cover. The 1g cover does not have a provision for the crank angle sensor or a reasonable way to make one, although it has been done once or twice.

Yes, the 1g 7 bolt has monting provisions for the crank sensor.

Yes, the 2g front cover will bolt to a 1g 7 bolt block.

YES! i knew someone had to know this, because the vendors only sell a 1g 6 bolt cover..and a 7 bolt cover for cars from 93 to 99 ..

I have a 93' talon sitting here and I can assure you that it does not have a set of bolt holes for the crank angle sensor on it. That does'nt mean that someone could'nt use a 2g 7 bolt front case on it with sensor mounts though, but the stock 93 7 bolt does'nt have the mount holes in it (mine does'nt, why would it?)

My old 93 cover had provisions for the crank sensor. I dont have the cover here at the moment but I can take pictures tomorrow for you to see. And it was removed from the original engine of a bone stock 93 tsi awd.

As promised, here are a couple of pics. All I had was a 1g 6 bolt and 1g 7 bolt covers to take pics of. I dont have a 2g cover around so I couldnt get a pic of one. The 6 bolt cover is on the top and 7 bolt on the bottom. I cleaned the cps mounting bosses on the 7 bolt cover so they could be seen easier. And as stated, this cover came from a bone stock, untouched 93 tsi awd. The other was the original from my 92 tsi awd 6bolt.
