1997 GSX misfire on cyl 2

Hi all
I have a 1997 Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX stock, my CEL will come on and stay on for a few weeks then go out for a couple days then come back on, I took it to a local shop and the computer shows it to be a misfire on cylinder 2, I have changed the plugs, wires and gapped the plugs to proper specs, but neither helps, the car seems to run fine but only get around 12 mpg around town and 15mpg on the highway under normal driving, also when I first take off there is a small puff of smoke like it is pushing gas right thru the exaust, any help would be great.

If its a misfire? and you did what you said? check your Power Transistor? also ? check your ingtion Coil? that might be going bad? and soon your car will idle! really bad? and thats when your coil is completly bad! A while back when i had my 7-Bolt i was racing a truck and a big cloud of smoke came out my exuast and then my car ran like crap! and it was the Power Transistor and Ingtion Coil and then i was ready to hit the streets again!!! good luck!

Thanks much for the info, got a coil pack on the way, hate to be such a newb but where and what is the power transistor?

Dont buy a power transsitor yet? wait and see if the Ing coil gets rid of the misfire? but the power transister is under the Intake manifold? it has a plug connected to it? its kinda big looks like the MAS intake connection your intake has! if you cant find it? tell me and i will get a pic of it? well good luck and keep us updated! latez
