I recently bought a 91 rst for 500$ with bent intake valves. The valves did hit the pistons and left some decent marks but that's besides the point. Today I got it back together, (torqued in 3 stages, put some connectors back on) and started on Timing. I noticed the balance shaft belt had been shredded. This brings up my question, can I run this without the BS belt? I know it not preferred and I have searched but this will be short term so I can DD it while I build a motor to make it more reliable and handle my (hopefully) hx35 setup. So it might be ran like this a year to a year and a half tops. I'm fairly new to DSM's but know a good bit about cars in general. Any advice on the timing job would also be appreciated. (I'm using a gates timing belt off a 90 motor I pulled, no cracks or anything, belts like new. Also using an old tensioner due to this being a short term build.) Thanks in advance.
