16g?

How would one go about determining weather a turbo is a 16g, s16g, or b16g, or even e316g? I just got a talon tsi '92 from a friend for 3 hundo, and its got a new turbo in it, but I dont know which one. I'm just wondering cause i'm in the process of stripping out what I need I.E. the rc 550's that were in there, as well as the apexi turbo timer. So if anyone has any obvious factor that would tell me which it is please shoot, thanks.

Small, 49178-05200
big, 49178-01420

Cool well I bought a '92 tsi awd for $300 and it had a 16g, rc 550's a blitz timer/boost gauge. So I cant complain to much. But this is the numbers off the housing, no last 3 digits. But from the look its either a big or an e3, or a cheap ebay turbo.
Any ideas?

who cares, you know its a b16g or e16g. thats all you need to know. they are almost identical turbos preformance wise.

And your right, its not going on anything till a get a '91 anyways but for peace of mind I would like to know. I believe the e3 is way better. But I dont know, never ran either one.
And max boost would differ between the two on 91 octane...?

an e16 is not "way" better then a b16g. boost would be the same. both are rated 380-400hp. they are almost idental turbos.
