16g with nitrous

right now i have a 16g pushing about 20psi with all supporting mods on a stock bottem end and a stock head 7 bolt right now i have about 260 hp, i was thinking about nitrous but i think it will be to much for the motor. is there anyone running the same thing, is it safe? i want to run a 55 to 75 shot.

I ran a 50 shot with my small 16g for a while and loved every minute of it. just make sure your fuel and ignition requirements are met. I'd recommend a good wet system like NX. Netted me a best of 12.0@117 or so.

If you have a 16g with all the supporting mods, and are only making 260HP then you need to address your current tuning. What supporting mods do you have currently? The faster 16G cars we built were making 320-350 wheel HP. My 16g car on nitrous made 423 wheel HP, 428 TQ. 16g's can make power, but they don't live very long under nitrous applications. The exhaust pulse spools them way too quick, and heats things up in a hurry inside the turbo. Another thing to keep in mind is the 7 bolt won't handle as much power as the 6 bolt, and I would be wary of the rapid cylinder pressure rise that would occur on a small turbo/nitrous combination. If you do go the nitrous route, take away timing.

actually i am guessing 260hp because when i had it dynoed by AMS it had stock exaust on it (my exaust didnt come in time to put it on before) with the stock exaust on it, it dynoed a 242.

with those mods you should be making a little over 300 at the wheels. try to get that sorted out, then work on the nitrous.

I spun a rod bearing at roughly 327WHP on my 7 bolt, but i hope that was just a freak accident (that was all engine/turbo, no spray aside from alcohol)
