Hey guys,
well here's the deal:
My car: 107,000 miles 1995 GST

My goal: high 12's low 13's

What would be a better turbo for this? Take in consideration my milleage

I know all about supporting mods but can't start buying if i don't know what to do about turbo.

Thanks for any help, comments

x vs x turbos are not allowed, but since theres like a gazillion combinations of t3/t4, i guess its alright.

with that said, what t3/t4 are you questioning about?

that's kind of like a what kind of underwear is best for me type thing ... i'de say do the research ... me presonally ... i would go with a big 16g,hahn super 16g, evo 16g or possibly even an 18g ... that way you can keep the same manifold. with the t3/t4 you will (more than likely) need a new exhaust manifold and external wastegate... unless of coarse you go with a "hybrid" turbo the franks or something ...

For your goals a 16G or big 16G or something around there would work fine. You could also get there on a 14b but in will take a bit more effort on your part with tuning.

How so

14b, full exhaust, LSD (14b will suck up some of this cost instead of buying a new 16G, and its a worthwhile investment--KAAZ ;) ), anywhere from 15-20psi depending on tune/fuel, stealth/3s/190lph FP, couple gauge (boost, egt) if you want good street times to then consider some 510cc-550cc injectors and get an safc (this will also help towards the LSD as opposed to a safc2).

That alone should net you those times if you have good tires and can drive the car. I cannot see that settup costing more than $3,000 and thats for quality stuff....

Since your fwd you probably want a larger turbo to get you better times, because youll have traction issues and im pretty sure that you wont want to be hauling slicks with you everytime you go to the track.

A 16G or Big16 will cost you in the realm of 500-600 shipped. A t3/t4 will cost you $1600 from AGP. You'll have to use the t3/t4 manifold, the external wastegate, run the oil lines, T in for a better oil supply, buy new gaskets, and I'm not sure about the ability to keep the stock o2 housing or not.

T3/T4 would be the more exspensive route to go..obviously.

AGP and PTE both make T3/t4 that have mitsu flanges so no need for custom manifolds or o2 housings for approx. $800. You can get internally wastegated which AGP says is good for 25psi and i called RRE they said there PTE is good for 24psi. You run the oil lines to stock loctation since the oil filter gets better oil pressure than the head. These turbo dont need water lines they have 360 thrust bearings which RRE says they will last 3 times as long as Mitsubishi Center Cartiridge:dsm:

Wow. Never heard of a FWD taking that route. Seems pretty smart actually. Hmm...

yeah , i just thought i would throw it in ... a buddy of mine had one (he got it from a friend who worked at jotech) and it crapped out in two weeks. also, since he boutgh it "used" (the guy bought it for his 98 gst but never installed it) he could do nothing about it ... he still made good on the deal though though, the same guy sold him the turbo and the complete GReedy front mount IC kit (and some other pidley things) for $700.00

ok how about actual GST owners of both turbos reply?
Like what do you like best?

I am aiming for a high 12's constant low 13's, and highway monster :)

i agree ... you shouldn't have to start messing with t3/t4's unless you have like 400 to 500 hp goals (in my opinion) or like 10 second plus 1/4 mile goals ...

an average DSMer with a FWD car in the 10's

race94, this is the 2nd thread that you have posted and requested of guys that went from a td05h to a t3/t4 setup. not many have, since it's basically a wasted step if you go from one setup to another...

it has been proven that a b16G can take you into lower 13's with appropriate suspension
