160 t-stat question

On my ecmlink log, the car does get to normal operating temp around 200-210 and does go into closedloop while normal temp idling and cruising. The coolant needle stay about 1/3 of the way on dash with the 160 t-stat.. Will I have any problems? I'm trying to get this right before dyno session because I don't want to have any problems on the dyno.

With the 160 t-stat, my car seems to stay cooler then when I had the 190 in it. With the 190 t-stat, it seems to go very high around 220ish. But that was gone after the 160 was put in.

If you've verified that you are going into closed loop via link, I think you're good to go. But if you're operating temps with the 160* thermostat are right on the threshold for closed loop operation you might want to lower the closed loop enable temp. I think in Link it's called something like coolant temp offset, but don't quote me on that.

160 degree is too cold for your 1g. You should try to figure out why you're running so hot on the other thermostat. Seems like you're just trying to put a bandaid on a bigger problem. I run the 180 thermostats on all of my 1g that I've own and never had a cooling/heating issue.

I had a stock 180 t stat in and would always get 200 tmps. Put a stant 170 in and i get 180-185all day

Yeah you can do coolant offset also, but that basically just kcks your fans on earler. And makes the ecu think it's that much hotter then it really is. So if your at 180* and your offset is 10, you would have the ecu thinking it's 190. And fans kick on 10* sooner.

Don't forget that it won't enter learn mode until 185*.

Thanks guys. I'll put in a 180 degree and set the offset and see what happens. Fans dont kick in until exactly 210 degree. So maybe offsetting the fans to come in early might help.
