OK, I just installed a ported 14b onto my 2g talon and for some reason it wont hit full boost. The turbo does spool but its only hitting like 4 psi and thats the most I can get out of it :thumbdown I believe the wastegate is slightly bent. Does this sound like a bad wastegate problem? I check for exhaust and boost leaks and found none but even if I did have a leak I should still be hitting more then 4 psi. Turning up the boost doesnt help neither. My mods are FMIC, Profec 2, injen intake, and greddy sp exhaust. Thanks :talon:

the wastegate flapper might be getting stuck open....you can test it with an air compressor and see what psi it opens at.

I checked the wastegate and flapper, bolted everything back on and now it seems to be pulling a lot harder. From the boost controller solenoid, do I continue to T the BOV line or do I connect it to that nipple on the j pipe?

I think the wastegate actuator on a 14B has a 6-7PSI spring. I put one on my 2g and when my electronic boost controller was set to completely open it would hit about 6.5. What keeps the boost at 10 PSI or whatever it is on a 1g is the solenoid, otherwise it would drop to the springs pressure set. So it is not far off, if you are not running a solenoid or controller of some sort. How fast does it spool and where does it spool? Is it hitting that pressure quickly or taking forever. If the wastegate is held more open than it should be, the turbo would spool slower. 4PSI should come at just over 1800-2000 RPMs, I think.

It makes sense now. 6-7 psi is what im hitting. It spools at about 1700 rpms and stays the same all the way to red line. Its spools fairly quick, but i cant get more then 7 psi. Should I hook my ebc to the j pipe instead?

I have mine connected at the J Pipe. I have tried both. I really did not see any difference between the two tap places. I think there may be less turbulence or change at the manifold though. The solenoid is going to be pretty sensitive usually. So a steady air flow(at the manifold) may be better for it. Also at the manifold your solenoid will be based on the exact pressure entering your motor. Everything happens so quick though that it may not make a difference, as I had seen. Unless you want to cap off the J Pipe, I would just tie it in there. That gives you some stuff to think about though. If I need any correction here, please give me it. Those are just my thoughts.

I will try connecting it to the j pipe in the morning. If I still cant boost past 7 psi, I will try using a mbc just to see if the profec 2 isnt working. thanks for the info.

Can a 2G wastegate actuator be used on a 16G/14b? The 2g one is about 10-11 psi, I havent tried to adapt it though. I just installed a 16G and notice I cant get above 5-6 psi and thought I had a problem since the T25 hit 10-11 with the same vacuum setup.
