i just sold a 96 prelude - cause hondas rust, anyways, i was planning on building a junkyard turbo - so i have these parts left.

im looking at getting a 97 gs-t or gsx. i belive the 2g have t25 which is not as good as the 14b correct? so how much hp will i see safely on stock internals with a 14b in a 2g and does it swap easy? i also i have 1g 450cc blue top injectors, and a drag bar&plate FMIC. should i use the injectors? will they just fit? and is it worth it to put the front mount in there?.

will i need engine managment?

thanks for your help! im new to dsms. kinda.

well i just finished my 14b install in my gst yesterday it costed me 30 bucks in parts and took about 7 hours because i had ac oolant leak..btw i did this and i had no clue on what i was doing...so its nto really hard..anyhow the gains are pretty big...id say 50 HP or so maybe more with my supporting mods and my avcr to turn boost up...and eclipes internals can handle almost anything u can throw at it so dont worry about blowing your motor

I havent put mine on yet, should be in a couple weeks when i get a free weekend. Although i have heard the installation is pretty easy and straight forward.

you can sefely see 400hp on the stock internals, a number you wont reach on the 14b, so you have no worries.

The 450cc injectors aren't going to help much. If you want to upgrade the injectors you should get 550s, although then you will need a fuel computer to turn them down... so for keeping it simple, the stock injectors will work just fine for now.

I'm not sure about the front mount.

You may need a S-AFC fuel computer if you decide to get larger injectors (550cc or larger) and a fuel pump (i'd recommend a fuel pump rewire [can be found on www.vfaq.com] or even a 190lph install)

P.S. If you get a bone stock car make sure to upgrade the restrictive upper intercooler pipe, and replace that P.O.S stock blow off valve. The stock 'boost gauge' is also worthless, make sure to upgrade that too.

id be more worried about 1/4 mile times than hp to the wheels... u can run 12's with a 14b with the right supporting mods or what not fairly easy

not really gona be hangin around a track beating on my car..

seriously, 400hp on stock internals? for how long? like a couple days?

also i was wondering about swaping other 1g parts, ive heard the intake manifold and other things are better too.

im looking at a few 2g gs-t eclipses, but i've heard about this "crankwalk" that all 2g eclipses will suffer, is this true and is it expensive when it happens and is it preventable?

here is my dynograph from yesterday with my freshly installed 14b :thumb:
mods are 14b, hks ssqv, airinx filter, apex'i n1 turboback, and apex'i s-afc

this graph is at 17psi and i made 240 fwhp and 237 ft lbs torque. i did another run at 20 psi and made the same power due to heatsoak on my stock sidemount but i made 251 ft lbs torque then blew off my lower intercooler hose. not bad for a 14b though with no front mount

1) A 2G will already have 450cc injectors in it stock, so you can sell the 450s you already have if you want.
2) Yes, install the FMIC-- it will help quite a bit.
3) You won't NEED engine management until you upgrade injectors, but it won't hurt now, or at any point. You will likely hit fuel cut with a 14B or any other upgrade turbo, and engine management such as a S-AFC will help get rid of that.
4) A 14B-type install isn't hard, but does require a collection of install parts, such as a J-pipe, new oil feed line, etc.

14b is a joke to install.

What you need

14B port it its worth it

1g oil feed line if you are really cheap like me saves some money for the oil line get the line on the turbo and bend it close to the head then cut the banjo fitting off and get a piece of braided hose to fit over the line and a hose clamp now get a 1/8 NPT fitting and remove the oil bolt at the side of your head and screw the 1/8 NPT fitting in there and install to the other end of the braided hose on your oil feed, lock it down with hoes clamps and your golden.

Oil return slot your holes and reuse

Gaskets I reused and used sealer on ones that were questionable
lower IC pipe you need a 10" piece of exhaust tube 2" and take your stock lower IC hose and cut it in half and run the pipe between the halves fits right up.

Water lines re-use the T25 Lines bend em a bit and get some Heater hose and route em to fit.
J pipe

Your Done Total cost to me 75 bucks including turbo. Going through life having people do stuff you can do is terrible use your mind and your hands get em dirty do the work its much more rewarding then handing someone 300 bucks for a kit and another 200 to install it.

my 14b..........$25 to install and that includes the cost of the turbo :D

from the aforementiond dyno day...

14b@10psi, stock sidemount, stock fuel system, zero tuning. had i run 17psi, which i had run prior to the dyno, i would have made bigger numbers earlier, but would have nailed fuel cut right in the ass at 5500rpm. creeped a little, maybe to 15 or so... but as you can see, i have cams ;D

vertGST- do you have any fuel mods?
Did you tune the car with the S-AFC?
Do you attribute your high HP numbers to the S-AFC??

I mean i have 14b on my car(i think it's a 16g, working on that), thing is i am running 15psi-17psi, i also have 3" apexi turbo-back, air filter, intake pipe, UICP + 1g bov and i don't think i'm running those numbers, did you tune the car in the dyno?

Thanks

Welcome to the world of real performance. A 4G63 motor is an incredible piece of work. There are many people on this site alone that run 20+psi and put down over 300whp daily, and the motor lasts. Most Honda turbo kits have disclaimers reading that constant high speed/boosted driving should be avoided, as the stock internals are ( to put it mildy ) crap. To give a rough estimate, a 1G motor is capable of sustaining 500whp, while a 2G motor can sustain 400+whp. I say this because many people do and have.

yes i did tune with afc. a friend of mine with a 14b (whipmastaflex) put 256 fwhp with no fuel mods on his car with the 14b. he does have web cams street grind which i think is a 5546 duration so that definitly helped him up top. i am still running a tad bit on the lean side so i am going to tune it a little more maybe next week. my afc surprisingly is still leaned out some. i tried street tuning the car at first and i got the settings pretty close. nothing like a dyno tune with a wideband though :thumb: :dsm:

Not nessessarily true, in fact most 2 G Dsms do not in fact suffer from crankwalk, i believe the statstic is something like 1 in 10. If it bothers you that much just stay away from 95s as they have the most reported cases. Fixing it once it happens can be a pain in the @$$, if you catch it to late which is more often then not the case you'll be replacing your short block. It happens. Dont worry bout it so much and have fun with your new DSM :D

so you can get more hp with an S-AFC even on stock inyectors and pump?
If so i think i'm getting one before pump or inyectors

yes you can. i haven't even begun to richen up the imjectors or add any points. i think witha front mount i can pull 260 out of the car on the 14b
