Do you have longer gears in it? I know AWD is a little different but hell my 4th tops out around 115-120mph. I just can't figure out how the downshift goes from 5th to 3rd. It's not like a 3rd gear to 2nd at 95mph, which of course, I've never done before. . Just kind of an ackward shift that shouldn't normally be done. But anyways, I don't think your an idiot.

In a nut shell............. I'm a dumb-ass! I don't know what I was thinking, maybe I thought I was going slower in the excitement of catching up to the car in front of me. Weak excuse, and a costly mistake!

Exactly why i don't let people borrow my car. My friend used to down shift and step on the throttle trying to get his car to backfire. As long as it's his car i could careless.

ummm...... Soemone who makes a mistake is not an idiot. A good friend of mine who has been Auto X'in for around 11 years did the same thing to her 98 911. Only her mistake belw her head and cost 4,500 to fix. If you race enough you will eventually make some small mistake. Shumacher, Mark Martin, anyother great racer will have a million stories of S*** happening. As long as no one gets hurt, no one should be called an idiot while racing. (YOur only an idiot if you deliberately tap someone or run inyo them because you took a corner too quickly)

That happened to me about three weeks ago. I hit third gear and boom my clutch plate went through the bell housing through the intake and into my radiator and then up into my hood. I was lucky it didn't come back in to the drivers compartment I think i might get one of those shields.

That clutch obviously had a manufacturing defect, and I am sure they will replace it under warrenty!!!!!!!!!!!!

We're good to go and race ready!! Replaced the 3rd gear synchro ring and spring, flywheel friction place, clutch and disc, throwout bearing, clutch fork and fulcrum, and entire clutch pedal assembly. I'd rather pull the engine and tranny and strip them bare then ever have to replace the clutch assembly again

So it's Willow Springs International Raceway here I come (in 3 weeks) Sept. 10-11

best of luck to you man! anyways, i did a 3rd to 2nd shift once (i was beating on my car, and my shiftknob always came loose, so i could never get a positive grip on it, so holding it to 6K in 3rd, accidently threw it in 2nd, i let the clutch out and when i saw the revs go to 6, i pushed the clutch back in and put it in 4th) <-- good thing i am young and still have decent reflexes.. i knew a guy with an integra that went downshifted from 5th into 2nd when he was going to mess around with a guy on the interstate, he bent his valves and had his car laid up for a few weeks... at least your engine is alright..
